Pupil Premium

A caring village school with a family feel where relationships are at the heart of all we do. Our unique community is connected under the protection of the tree of life, where all are enabled to grow and flourish in their own surprising ways’

Publicly-funded schools in England get extra funding from the government to help them improve the attainment of their disadvantaged pupils. These are pupils who are, or who previously been, eligible for Free School Meals, children who are or have previously been in care and children who are from service families.

At Swell Primary School:

  • We have high expectations for all our children.

  • We ensure that teaching and learning opportunities meet the needs of all pupils as individuals.

  • We ensure that appropriate provision is made for pupils who belong to vulnerable groups, this includes ensuring that the needs of socially disadvantaged pupils are adequately assessed and addressed.

  • In making provision for socially disadvantaged pupils, we recognise that not all pupils who receive free school meals will be socially disadvantaged.

We are outward looking and are continually reviewing and updating our offer to all children. The pupil premium strategy allows us to identify any barriers to learning and plan actions to overcome these barriers.
